Sonny in the Summer

The summer temperatures in Reno reached record-breaking numbers last week of up to 110 degrees. Free-roaming mustangs frequently roll in the dirt and shallow pools of water. This helps protect their coat and creates a layer to help with fly protection. Wild horses tend to reserve their energy in such high temperatures and stay closer to water sources.

Sonny, with his little brother, looks back at his mom (buckskin) and his dad (dark sorrel). He will be two years old this year in October. He is growing into a handsome young mustang!
